review: I was skeptical of trying a brand that I had never heard of before. Apparently, CREDE is huge in Japan, but I live in California, so how would I know?

Upon seeing the bright yellow packaging, I was turned off by its lack of design. It’s plain, not pretty, and I wanted to revert to my daily shampoo and conditioner regime. Yet, when duty calls…

I washed my hair with my regular shampoo in order to notice the effects of the er treatment more easily. After washing my hair, I squeezed out the excess water and reached for the yellow bottle. The pump applicator made the routine much easier compared to tubes or push-top cap, which I appreciated. I used two pumps of er treatment and applied it to my hair. The fragrance was interesting, but not necessarily bad; it has a perfume-like floral scent which is very light. I was pleasantly surprised by the thickness of the treatment. The conditioner was cream-like and not runny, staying in my hair without dripping for over five minutes.

After five minutes, I began to rinse the treatment out. To my disbelief, my hair was incredibly soft. I have only felt my hair this soft in the salon right after a deep conditioning treatment. I kept touching and rinsing my hair because there must have been conditioner left in my hair too make it feel this soft. However, after two minutes of constant rinsing, I accepted the fact that the treatment worked.

The true test of the er treatment would be styling my hair. I wanted to see how my hair would react to styling after the treatment. My hair is coarse and is prone to becoming frizzy. However, my hair is not very thick, and is often weighed down by deep conditioners.

When I began blow drying my hair, I noticed the brush moved so easily through my hair. I was content. My hair looked smooth and felt silky. But my hair did not have any volume nor did it have much movement. It had been weighed down. Defeated, I reached for my volumizing root spray.

The er treatment works incredibly for what it is supposed to do: silkify, smooth and add moisture to damaged hair. Now if only it could promise to add volume as well…
