Dermatologist, Melanye Maclin, M.D., founded Innovative Hair Technology, Inc. in September 1999. Lastly, Dr. Maclin is the expert Dermatologist providing guidance on black hair for an HBO documentary to be released in theaters in 2009.

A fascinating buzz in beauty and media industry was created about Dr. Maclin within her first year of business. She has been interviewed by several magazines including Elle, Harpers Bazaar, Mademoiselle, Redbook, Health, Launch Pad and People En Espanol. Additionally, Dr.Maclin was featured on a national television for a FOX news Health segment and ABC news.

Dr. Maclin’s pre-med college education at Howard University began at the age of 16 graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree as a Phi Beta Kappa honor student. She then completed a Doctorate of Medicine at Howard as well. Dr.Maclin finished a medical internship at a Johns Hopkins affiliate hospital, Franklin Square then her ultimate goal in the field of Dermatology from Washington Hospital Center in 1999. She is married to Dr. Gary Carroll and has two little girls in Maryland.
